HWS Requesting Funds

Requesting Funds from the HWS:

Care packages, including food samples and supplies, will be sent, upon request, for each hedgehog that is rescued/adopted from a neglectiful, harmful, or unwanted situation. Requests for care packages should be sent to Jennifer Plombon at jenners@mn.rr.com.

Monetary funding may be requested by individuals who rescue hedgehogs from neglectful, harmful, or unwanted situations. The executive board of the HWS will evaluate the availability of funds on a case-by-case basis. Monetary requests should be sent to the treasurer of the HWS at donnasue.graesser@aya.yale.edu.

Funding may be used for supplies or veterinary expenses for rescued hedgehogs. If funds are used to cover veterinary expenses, if possible the amount will be sent directly to the veterinary hospital that is providing care for the hedgehog.

Funding may be requested to offset the adoption fee of a hedgehog from a legitimate, non-profit animal shelter or rescue organization, where the fee is used to support the animals in the shelter, and no individual profit is derived from the fee.

The HWS does NOT provide funds for the purchase of hedgehogs from an individual or a pet store.

The HWS has set a "funding cap" at $50.00 per hedgehog, so that our funds may be distributed to the greatest number of hedgehogs possible. We realize this is only a drop-in-the-bucket for most veterinary bills, but we hope even this amount will help relieve some of the financial burden on the rescuer.

To request funds, send an e-mail describing the rescue situation, and specifically how the funds will be spent. Receipts and documentation will be necessary for any expenditures made with HWS funds. Please send requests to donnasue.graesser@aya.yale.edu.

Please don't hesitate to request funds for any rescued hedgehog. You have helped to raise this money to benefit hedgehogs, let's put it to good use!
