Janet Ernst’s European Adoption Story:
Janet Ernst’s European Hedgehog, Minx, at Beds and Herts Hedgehog Rescue.
Last week I wrote that I had adopted a Euro hedgie that was rescued from
a bucket of oil in which she was trapped. Amanda wrote that this little
hedgie had just been adopted by someone else so I chose another hedgie.
This one I named Minx because of her mischievous ways. She is an albino
that had fallen into a deep post hole after the post had been removed.
She would have died had she not been rescued. A letter from Amanda,
which tells about my little Minx, follows.
Hedgie love,

The one was found in a post hole is still looking to be adopted! She
doesnt have a name, so pick a good one! She is only 2 years old and she
will live with us at the hospital for the rest of her life, because she
has no natural camoflague against predators and because shes an albino
she has a very poor immune system. She lives in a nice big hutch in the
garden with regular access to a run. Her favourite food is a mixture of
cat food in jelly, mealworms and raisins! She is sometimes put with the
other little albino, so they can be socialised, but she does tend to
like her own space! She does like to have a dig and has escaped into the
garden a few times, but it doesnt take long to find a bright white
hoggie in between the bushes! She is definatly mischevious and sometimes
looks at you as though shes starved, especially when someone else has
fed her - they're smarter than they look! I hope this information about
your adopted hedgehog will help you decide on a name for her.
Amanda :-)
