Erin Marshman's European Adoption Story:
Erin Marshman’s European Hedgehog, Daisy, at Hedgehog Friends of Denmark.
June 15th, 2003
Her story:
A family who had been on a weeks vacation came home
and found a
hedgehog that had fallen down in their basement (a 5
ft. fall).
They had left a window open.and I guess the little
hedgie was curious
to see what they were hiding there.
From her condition she has been laying there for some
days.
She is terrible skinny and dehydrated her weight is
553 and a normal
weight for her size would be 850 - 900 grams.
The people gave her - in kindness - milk to drink L
before they went on
the internet where they found me (and read hedgehogs
must NOT get
milk).
BUT they were clever enough to remember to tell me
they gave her milk.
She has a small wound on her left side but nothing is
broken.
I cleaned the wound and gave a lot to drink.
medication to stabilize
her tummy after the milk.
Now she is sleeping like a baby.
Attached are pictures of her.
She is a lovely, lovely girl.
Warm thoughts,
Kis

Hi Erin,
Fiona is, like I told Erik doing great and responding very well on her medication.
But it depends a little on the weather how soon I will let her go ;-)
As for YOUR girl.
She is getting big and starts to get a shape like a drop ;-)
June 22'end her weight was 704 grams ;-)
I cleaned her wound with Camomile and after a few days it was nice and clean and healing perfetly ;-)
Look at the attached pictures...a few days ago when I came out in the hedgieroom she was laying like this, sleeping...first with her foodbowl on her behind...then a picture was taken...she turned around and put her head under the foodbowl...hahahahahha.
She is such a personality.
Right now I am busy searching after her: She escaped from her box sometime tonight.
HOW she did that is a wonder to me..
But I will find her.
Warm thoughts,
Kis (and your free roaming hedgie-girl LOL)

Hi Erin,
Did you get the last pictures I mailed you?
With you girl sleeping with the food-bowl?
She is now 906 grams...lovely and healthy :-)
She was picked up this evening by the people who found her in their celler.
They promised to keep the windows closed so this will not happen again ;-)
Warm and kind thank yous from your girl and Kis
